BORN, NEVER ASKED

Born Never Asked is a solo work devised and performed by Ming Chin. Drawing from her personal relationship with her mother, the piece explores the fragile coexistence of love, memory, and pain. It marks the first chapter of Ming Chin’s Mask Trilogy, as well as her first work to incorporate masks and elastic flesh-like fabric as central performance elements.
Premiered as part of Resolution 2026 at The Place Theatre in London, the work was presented as an experimental performance with the audience seated on all four sides, surrounding the stage. This in-the-round configuration created an intimate encounter, allowing spectators to witness the performer’s physical and emotional journey from multiple perspectives.
